1. The first brand of diapers we used was Pampers Premium Care NB (New Born).
We had a couple of packs, given as baby shower present. New Born size fits just right for my baby. I know other moms skip the NB and start with Small because their babies are bigger. Pampers Premium Care is really a thumbs up. It's very soft and absorbent. I like it because the pee becomes a gel so your babies' bum won't feel wet. Plus it has a wetness indicator so you will have an idea on how full your the diaper is.
I want to continue with Pampers Premium Care. Of course we want what's best for our baby. We want to make sure that our baby's bum feels dry. But as a single parent that's on a budget it's not really practical for me, in my case to buy such expensive diaper.
2. After Pampers Premium Care we switched to EQ dry NB.
3. Pampers Baby Dry NB
So after coming to my senses that Pampers Baby Dry and EQ Dry are almost in the same price range, I started purchasing Pampers Baby Dry. I bought per 40 pieces because it costs less, rather than per 20. I like that Pampers Baby Dry also has a wetness indicator and the pee becomes gel as well. The difference is that the Premium Care is much more gentle than the Baby Dry variant.
While we still have Pampers Baby Dry NB, a friend of mine gave me a bunch of assorted diapers. Huggies, Pampers and some are even organic diapers, I believe it was from abroad. Good thing her niece already outgrew them. (Smirk) I don't know the other brands since it was all mixed up in a large plastic bag, others doesn't have a brand name on the diaper, but they're all nice. The organic ones are much thinner and it easily gets full compared to Pampers. Only Pampers and Huggies have brand name and are the ones that can be purchased locally.
4. Huggies Dry Small
The Huggies Brand that my friend gave me was Small size not New Born but it fits okay for my baby that time. Huggies is also nice like Pampers. So after we used all the diapers that were given I then purchased the Small size of Huggies.
Since small sizes are up to 8kg I then started buying in bulk. I usually shop in Lazada because it's much cheaper than buying at the grocery store. I was loyal to Pampers, so I still purchase Pampers, until Huggies was on sale. Huggies was alright. It also says up to 12 hours like Pampers. When I only have 1 pack left I already check what's on sale on Lazada, so either of the two is fine. Taped Huggies and Pampers are almost the same until I switched to pants. Pampers Pants is much softer than Huggies pants. I was already satisfied with Pampers and Huggies but one time Momi Poko was on sale. I wanted to try it because it says number 1 in Japan and Japan made products are really with high quality.
5. Mamy Poko Pants Small
Ummm. Not going back to Mamy Poko even if it's on sale for 50% off. It leaks. And it's only up to 10 hours dryness unlike Pampers and Huggies which is up to 12 hours.
In conclusion among the 4 brands: Pampers, Huggies, EQ and MamyPoko, Pampers is the softest. And Huggies and Pampers are more absorbent than EQ and MamyPoko. I forgot to mention, my baby didn't experience any rashes or redness with these 4 brands.
I also suggest that once your little one starts crawling, switch to pants. So even when baby's "malikot" you don't have to adjust the tapes or what not, the diaper's fit will still be exact.
If I'm going to rate the 4 brands with the variants I purchased:
Pampers 5 stars
Huggies 4.5 stars
EQ and MamyPoko 3.5
I hope this somehow helps with deciding what diaper to buy here in the Philippines.
